At the core of your character are personal values that create the foundation upon which you think, feel, behave, and lead every day. They define who you are and what you stand for and are the roots that form a solid foundation upon which you stay grounded as a leader. When you are clear about your personal values, you feel empowered and prepared to take action.

In this course, you will identify your top five core values and learn how to make values-based decisions with consistency and integrity. In doing so, you'll feel much more comfortable in your own skin and empowered to live a life you love.

How to Discover Your Core Values

course outline

Module 1: Introduction and Preparing For Success

In this first module, we'll discuss why knowing and understanding your unique value set can help you build a life you love!

4 Lessons

In this first lesson, I share a story of how apprehensiveness and anxiety were replaced with confidence and contentment when a client uncovered her Core Values.

In this lesson, we'll explore how your Core Values govern your priorities, impact your decision-making, and influence how you evaluate and respond to life experiences.

The top four reasons you should want to know your values are revealed in this lesson.

Everything you need to know to get the most out of this course is provided in this lesson. It is designed to set you up for success!

Module 2: Five Essential Exercises to Uncover Your Value System

In the following lessons, we'll deconstruct how to dig deep to uncover the Core Values operating deep below the surface of your consciousness and quietly influencing how you think and take action.

5 Lessons

Now it is time to put pen to paper and get to work! In this exercise, we begin the process of unpacking your Core Values. The first step is to identify and explore past experiences that provide insight into what your Core Values might be. Let's get started!

As you reflected in Exercise 1, you likely noticed some recurring and common themes. Repetition is an indicator of importance, so the next exercise is to capture those themes and distill them down to a few words. In this lesson, I will show you how to do that.

Now it is time for you to observe yourself in action! In this exercise, your real-world becomes your laboratory, where you will identify and reflect on the Core Values that are driving your daily thoughts and decision-making and narrow your list down to your top five.

To make them rich and meaningful, you will translate your Core Values into guiding principles in this lesson by creating one to two-sentence Value Statements.

There will be times when you must choose between decisions that honor different values. When faced with these situations, you must know which Core Values are more important than the others. In this lesson, I will show you how to test your Core Values to (1) ensure that you've identified the ones that are true for you and (2) prioritize them in order of importance.

Module 3: Integrating Your Values Into Your Daily Life

In this module, I will give you the tools and resources you need to leverage your value system daily to stay aligned with your authentic self and create a more profound sense of meaning and purpose in your work and life.

4 Lessons

Now that you have your Core Values dialed in, it is time to identify Key Behaviors that align with each Core Value and are consistent with how you'd like to show up every day. Then, we'll leverage the power of habit and craft a plan to incorporate these behaviors into your daily routine so that they become a part of your natural way of being.

Values-based decision-making is one of the many ways business professionals exude courage and confidence while addressing challenging situations and making critical decisions with clarity and intentionality. In this lesson, I will show you how to do that.

There will be times when you must balance the priorities of your values with priorities that come from the values of others. Misalignment is inevitable, and compromises will have to be made. In this lesson, you will learn to recognize when a misalignment in values is causing conflict, and I will provide the strategies you need to address it effectively.

It is time to reflect on your learning journey – not only on what you've learned but also on what this learning means to you. Let's get after it and finish strong!
